"The finest forties
show you will ever see ...
The scene is set in 1943;
the curtain opens at Stanbridge Railway Station in Bedfordshire. Lance
corporal Wendy Harrison arrives, awaiting a train carrying motor cycle
spares, only to find out from Sergeant Spence of the "Home Guard"
that the rail is blocked due to debris further up the line.
To pass the time, Wendy
begins to practice her singing scales, as she needs to practice
for a show that evening. Although she is on
her own, Wendy becomes aware of another voice. Puzzled Wendy
walks over to an old bicycle but it's not the bike that talks!...
Performing in authentic
ATS uniform, Fiona Harrison takes her audience down 'memory lane'
with
the nostalgic
music of the 1940s. Many of the hit songs
from this period are included, songs made famous by Gracie
Fields, Vera Lynn, The Andrews Sisters and others.
The audiences
are
encouraged to clap and sing along with the music.
Barty, the singing Lamp Post
sings along with Wendy, and has a magical charm of his own which breaks
down any fears of young or old joining in.
"We'll Meet Again"
is a self-contained show, packed with 'high-tech', carefully chosen
nostalgia. It is performed in 2 x 45 minute sets with a short interval
and simple scene change. The show has been created and assembled by
individual experts in their own fields, using only the best technologists
available. The result is a superb production of sound effects and musical
arrangements.
